Surviving the World

A Photocomic Education by Dante Shepherd

Lesson #3157 - Grades

It's exam week. Care about whether or not you've mastered the concepts and can apply them, rather than the letter/number that you'll get that tries to say something to the extent of if you've mastered the concepts and can apply them.

I came across this quote in my notes from Phil this past week that I'd jotted down when I heard one of his talks about a year-and-a-half ago - and now I kind of work for Phil by producing science comics about teaching and education for Chemical Engineering Education. Anyway, he made a very good point and it's instructive for both students and teachers to remember exactly what all the fuss is about - assessment, of some form, that may or may not mean anything.

This is the second of two comics today. Click back for the other.
