Lesson #3441 - Olympic History, Part VII

Figure skating was originally introduced at the 1908 Olympics, 16 years before the Winter Olympics even started. (Fun fact: in two of the competitions, there were only three competitors! So everyone got a medal. Yay. And they make fun of participation trophies for my generation.) When figure skating made the transition over to the Winter Olympics, three-time gold medalist Grillis Gafstrom defended his Summer Olympics medal, becoming the first person to win a medal in both Olympics.

Here are links to past Olympic history comics, although they've all been about the Summer Olympics before.
